A fantastic series, but two things annoys me. First, Kujos only line he can do properly is yelling Victorique at the top of his lungs all the time. Stupid... And what's up with that silly pipe? Just a lame Sherlock Holmes-gimmick?

In the light novels, she was supposed to be smoking a pipe.
In the anime, I guess they didn't want to badly influence watchers into smoking pipes at young ages.

I started watching this for, what i thought would be, a nice light hearted comedy but it turned out to be so much better. i truely liked how they were able to tie in certain points of mysteries in the beginning of the show into the ones that came later. Plus a great romance did blossom that was on par with ToraDora ^_^

I was expecting this series to be a little sadder, but at least the final couple episodes had me bawling  :'-( Overall a great series, just could've done without the airhead teacher

This was one tail I could not stop thinking about I started watching it but then i got hooked in its heartwarming setting and its mixture of detective, mystery, comedy, and of course romance.

Hmm... I have plenty enough in my backlog to hold me over until the last blurays come out (I think like 2-3 months before the final one is out in japan), but I really have an urge to watch this... I think I can safely say this is the most difficult decision I have faced in my life.

Toradora? Good god do not compare this to that idiotic romcom. Gosick is a million times better than that.

This anime made me realize that I liked tsundere lolis very much, but that didn't blind me from the gaping holes in it's plotline like how such a smart girl couldn't even device a successful plan to escape from the clutches of her father before all of the crap she should've seen a mile away coming happened, as well as how her supposedly fearsome clan of old are just a bunch of technophobic hicks hiding away in trala-land, So there's plenty of what you'd expect a smart person would do to save themselves the hassle of ending up as tragic heroines that the protagonists didn't do despite being considered as 'geniuses'..

tsundere gothic loli =  awesome.
author's writing skills = meh.. -_-

I just finished the first season of dantalian no shoka and hopefully it doesn't end up with a retarded ending as well.

Edit: Nevertheless, thanks to the uploader for sharing this.

It was a nice show, thanks to upper for this. Nice quality.

...but am I the only one who was bugged by the constant

victorika?victorika!victorika?victorika!victorika?victorika!victorika?victorika!victorika!   ...add infinitum?

I swear I started to get seizures from that word. God I just wanted to strangle Kujo to death by 20th episode.

I felt that way too :x and worst... what i heard is 'B'ictorika :O!!! not only that, he chanted "thank god" at one point too  :-/ -im irritated-
The only good thing is that Victorique doesn't "chant" Kujou Kujou Kujou

I really enjoyed this series.  As recent anime goes, this is in my Top Five list, which includes Occult Academy, Highschool of the Dead, Deadman Wonderland, and Angel Beats.  Am I over the top in suggesting that anime is at its peak right now?

Granted, the series is not without its problems.  Really, why create a fictional nation and put it where a real-world country is already located (Monaco) and where the likelihood of the entire population being blonde-haired and blue-eyed is so low?  Easier to move it to somewhere in northernmost France if it has to be set in a French-speaking region, or better yet, Switzerland since it struggled to remain neutral during WWII and that struggle paralleled what the fictional Sauville was going through politically.  Granted, it would have required about an hour's research, and as we all know, why waste the time when you can just make up a country so you don't have to spend all those minutes doing cursory research?  /Snark

What's more, I would have kept the historical dates of WWII in relation to Gosick's story accurate — have the story take place in 1938-1939 so it's closer to the actual start of WWII.  This would have required only minor changes to some of the early episodes to accommodate historical events such as WWI, nothing that couldn't have pulled off.

Another thing that bothered me was the writers' seeming inability to decide if Gosick should be set in the 1920s or the 1890s.  Even during the 1920s, Europe was technologically in line with the rest of the world.  Airplanes, blimps, trains, automobiles, telephones, and steel ships were all present in the series, but to such minimal degree that I found myself getting tired of seeing horse-drawn carriages and Victorian garb everywhere instead of contemporary fashion.  Granted, at that time such advanced technology was enjoyed more by the affluent than the poor and middle classes, but still...

Finally, the inconsistencies in how characters aged in relation to events within the story should have been resolved.

Still, for all its flaws, Gosick moved me to misty-eyed moments at times, especially in the second half of the series.  While the writers could have done a lot better, they still managed to make a great series that had me looking forward to the next episode every time I watched.  So congratulations to the creative team for a job done well enough to make me shelve my criticisms during its run, allowing me to critique only after it ended its run.
