This is true. Something can be an OVA but still have an episode number just to display the order it should be watched in. IIRC, Sumomomo Momomo did this as well with the TV series lasting 22 episodes, and there being an episode 23 and 24 included with the final DVD release.

I do agree with the earlier statement that once a HD release of these is out, the episodes for both HD and SD should be merged into one torrent. I also agree with them being fine the way they are, until then, because they are OVA's.

They generally don't mix across offer classes, though. I.e. you won't find many 720p items in a 1080p offer, or C/D class in 720 or 1080 offers. I think there might be a couple of cases of 720p content in a 1080p offer, if there is no alternative, but I can't for the life of me remember where I thought I saw it. I'm probably just imagining it.

In terms of OVA+Series mixing, it varies. If there's a direct relation and it's not something like a S1 - S2 transition, they often go in, similar if it expands on the plot in some way. A recent example, Oreimo was rejected multiple (dozens?) times because the OVA is just an alternate route, and picks up directly from the main show. There are probably exceptions.

On the other hand, OVAs are also often separate. Deull Walzer, a Rozen Maiden OVA, is separate. Omakes from various series are generally separate, if not always: ex. the Black Lagoon omakes, the True Tears omakes. But, sometimes the OVA will go in, anyway: ex. Shana-tan is combined with the main season, as is the Toradora! SOS special.

I'm not sure if there's a pattern beyond how tightly coupled the OVA and series are. There's precedent either way, and some of it probably also has to do with not wanting to kill the swarm by merging torrents once there -is- a source for each existing class (A-B-C).

You clearly didn't understand the point I was trying to make, so let me clarify.

I said that once an HD version of this release is out, the HD version and the SD version can be merged with their respective series counterparts. I never said anything about merging the HD and SD releases.
